Release Terrell Owens? Bad Idea

There are rumblings around Dallas that the Cowboys may be thinking about releasing Terrell Owens.
While the team definitely needs to address their chemistry issues, releasing Owens would be counterproductive.
Although Owens isn’t exactly the best teammate in the NFL, he’s an extremely talented football player. He’s actually talented enough to warrant the drama he has caused in Dallas. In fact, he was relatively civil in 2008.
If the Cowboys release Owens, their offense would take a major hit. He’s Tony Romo’s main target and the biggest reason why the offense has been a strong suit in recent years. Jason Witten and Marion Barber III are good players but Owens helps make them better.
Some Cowboys fans will point to the addition of Roy Williams and say that Williams can replace Owens. However, though Williams is a talent, he’s not on Owens’ level. It’d be a definite drop going from Owens to Williams.
Releasing Pacman Jones was a good idea. Letting Tank Johnson walk in free agency is a good plan. Releasing Terrell Owens? Bad call.

Well I don’t know too many people who would say that releasing TO would be a bad idea. The only reason the Cowboys shouldn’t release him is b/c of the signing bonus they invested in him. TO is nothing short of a cancer. If the Cowboys were to release him there is a short list of teams that would consider signing him. Most likely he would end up in Oakland. There is no doubt TO is a HOF receiver and there is also no doubt that TO could blow up next year if the Cowboys don’t involve him in the offense as much as he would like. Since I am not a Cowboys fan I would love for TO to stick around and implode their team like he did in SF and Philly. He is a ticking time bomb!
