Renaming the Recycle Bin

April 12, 2006 by Kori Ellis

If you’re familiar with Mac OS X, you know that the equivalent of the Windows XP Recycle Bin is the Trash Can. You can actually duplicate this on Windows.

By editing your registry (regedit from Start > Run), modify the following key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID/{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

Change the {default} entry from “Recycle Bin” to “Trash Can”.
