First released in 1992 the new Renault Twingo 2009 has come a long way. It may not be the power-horse we North American love to drive but its light 1.2L 75hp engine will get you an astounding 49.5mpg!

If you consider the European sub-compact market you think expensive. The Austin Mini and the VW Beatle were both originally designed to be affordable family vehicles, now they are priced as a luxury car.
One of the most highly overlooked car companies in the world is the Renault. They have been around since the beginning of car manufacturing but never quite took off in North America. When I lived in France I had lots of fun driving around my little Renault Twingo and wondered why we didn’t have these things back how. I mean I though for sure that the Smart Cars would be the ones to stay in Europe. I must have abused that car learning to drive stick with it.
There is also a Twingo Sport edition that has a turbo-engine. Also, next year expect to see an all new Twingo Convertable called the Twingup. Yes, I know it’s a bad name.
