Have you ever thought about retiring in a place outside of the United States? If so, you should consider the country of Costa Rica. Located between Nicaragua and Panama, Costa Rica offers a lot of advantages for those entering retirement.
Here are the top five reasons to retire in Costa Rica:
1) Cost
By most accounts, its quite easy to retire in Costa Rica on a budget of between $2,000 and $3,000 per month. Rent is cheaper in Costa Rica, as is food, medical insurance and energy.
2) Peace
While many other Central American countries are constantly at war, Costa Rica is actually one of the most peaceful countries on earth. In fact, the country hasn’t had an army in more than half a century.
3) Beauty
Considering that most of the country is on the coast, it’s difficult to find a city that isn’t beautiful. You will also be a hop, skip and a jump away from the rain forest.
4) Weather
In most parts of Costa Rica, the temperature throughout the year stays moderate. It doesn’t get too hot in the summer and there’s rarely any snow in the winter.
5) Activities
There are a number of fun activities in Costa Rica. Hiking and sightseeing are popular options, however fishing in Costa Rica is king. Fisherman come from around the world to fish in the Costa Rican waters.
