Retirement for Police Dogs

Retirement isn’t just for humans. In a story reported by KTRV-TV in Twin Falls, Idaho, the local sheriff’s department has instituted new policies on how to handle the retirement of their police dogs. The policies include a number of perks for retired police dogs. Here are a few:

  • A fenced yard
  • No cats
  • No kids
  • The sheriff’s department picks the new family
  • The sheriff’s department can’t ask for more than $250

Prior to these new policies, there were no rules on how to handle the retirement of the police dogs. If you thought planning for your retirement wasn’t important, perhaps this will be a reminder. If police dogs have retirement plans, all humans should know that they needs to plan for retirement. Perhaps you too may want a fenced yard during your retirement years.
