If you are retiring and want to consider a different avenue, how about retiring on a cruise ship? Oceanic Retirement Communities of America, also known as ORCA, has begun to take reservations for those people who want to retire on a private cruise ship.
Condos on the cruise ship, which will be used for residential purposes and will be outfitted with assisted living accommodations like the ones found in most retirement communities, will reportedly start at around $260,000.
Said Mel Medina, ORCA’s President: “People retire to Florida for three things mainly … warm sunshine, golf, and the water. This is a unique package that provides for all that plus a wellness capability.”
Amenities on the cruise ship include a sun deck, shuffleboard, putting green, workout facilities, high end dining room, spa, library, martini bar and night club. There are also 12 guest cabins available.
“This is an ingenious concept,” said Medina, “that fosters the active and adventurous senior lifestyle so demanded among the retiring baby boomers.”
