Retrievr

retrievr.jpgI started playing with Retrievr last week when I heard about it. Fascinating and intelligent tool, I must say. This tool, powered by oft-overused AJAX technology allows for realtime sketch-matching. Very simply, you select colors from a pallete, begin painting in an MS Paint like canvas and the service dynamically grabs images from Flickr that match general coloring and shading swaths that you paint.

This is extremely beneficial for folks looking to find Creative Commons licensed imagery that matches color schemes and shading of their choice.

I think it’s neat too, but I’ll be damned if I can figure out any practical use for it.
