I signed up for it, tried it, then deleted my account after a few weeks. Then, it became really popular. But, like you, I just see it as a pointless 'toy' as it is. There are just too many other things that I need to do. Facebook, on the other hand, is a nice geeky web toy that I'm happy to play with when I get the chance. :-) I learned about Twitter before it became really popular.
