Tai-ji Ball, or Rhythmball, was one of the newest Olympic sports in 2008.

According to the Rhythmball website, www.rhythmball.com, Rhythmball combines:
Developed by China’s Olympic boxing coach to help the disabled improve their musculature, Rhythmball is open to all ages, ambulatory and non-ambulatory.
Keeping a sand-filled ball on a latex paddle while swinging your arms is exciting and challenging. Reaping the benefits of Chinese exercise makes Rhythmball all the more rewarding.
Watch the pros in action (this guy is ridiculously good.)
I gave it a shot, and in all honesty, I’m not very good at it. BUT it’s highly addictive and fun, and gets the heart rate up if you really get into it.
Rhytmball.com has given me 1 complete Rhythmball set with DVD, along with a handy carrying case to giveaway to one lucky reader. To win the set, all you have to do is leave a comment, and I’ll pick a winner at random next Monday, October 6th.

AAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHA, that looks so fun!! I want one simply because that seriously looks like something I’d be roaming around the house doing with random everyday items, haha.
its so much fun. i took it over to a friend’s house and everyone was fighting over it. A few people lost their privledges, though, because they kept hitting the ball with the paddle which is a sure fire way to break it.
hmm, an olympic sport?? and bowling still isn’t considered a sport…
Now that could be a lot of fun to whip out at parties!
Rhythmball! Sounds a little crazy. But also fun. It’s cool how there are so many different ways out there to be active (including things we’ve never heard about!).

How cool is that?!
I can just see myself now in the parking lot of my apartment complex… I’d look so special! haha :) But I know I definitely shouldn’t try it inside because I’m sure to break something.
I love it!
Ha, this looks like fun!
That looks like fun and I’m always interested in new activities!
Okay, I’ll give it a go – looks like fun and a change from the daily grind. I always enjoyed the random Tai Chi event in college. : )
Sounds like it would be a great aerobic activity and I am always looking for new fitness activities to try to keep myself challenged. Looks great!
Was this actually an olympic sport? Interesting…
At first, I didn’t see the little ball in the video. “Hey, that guys just waving a paddle around. I could do that… oh. Maybe not.”
Still, looks like it would be fun trying to learn :)
