NFL football Hall of Famer, Gene Upshaw, has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer.

I saw this on my breaking news updates and was immediately sadden. Upshaw was not only an amazing football player, he was also instrumental in advancing the rights of NFL players through his longtime position as the Executive Director of the NFL Players Association.

Upshaw played for the Los Angeles Raiders (and Oakland)
from 1967 to 1981. His numerous accolades include seven Pro Bowls, 11 All Pro nods, and a couple of Superbowl Championships. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1987.

He was only 63. For more information, visit ESPN.

Here’s some Upshaw highlights, courtesy of YouTube.
