Roger Clemens on the Hall of Fame

The Rocket is mad, and he’s not going to take it anymore.
The Cy Young winner (and former AT&T commercial star) has a new mantra vis-a-vis steroid abuse allegations: Deny, deny, deny. In addition to his “nuh-uh” video and 60 Minutes sit-down, Clemens maintained his innocence again at a post-Mike Wallace press conference.
The best feisty Roger quote from it (via the Boston Globe) is this, with a couple of bloggerette annotations:
I got another [swear word we won't include because this is a PG-13 blog] question the other day about the Hall of Fame. You think I played my career because I’m worried about the damn Hall of Fame? [Um . . . yeah?] I could give a [rodent's posterior region] about that also. If you have a vote, you keep your vote. [You mean like the way Doug Mientkiewicz kept the World Series 2004 ball until the Red Sox got mad?] I don’t need the Hall of Fame to justify that I put my butt on the line and I worked my tail off.
Well, we say, if he’s guilty, then we hope he bears the consequences. If he’s innocent, then all of Medialand owes him a mulitude of “I’m sorry. Can we still be friends?”-hugs.
Either way, though, we want to issue a baseball-wide plea of our own: Don’t dis Cooperstown. That’s like saying, “What do we need all those pyramids in Egypt for? Someone should level them and put a mini-mall there.”
It’s the same but different, right?
