The last original studio album that the legendary British rock group, The Rolling Stones, released was A Bigger Bang back in 2005. Two years later, the band put out a four-disc concert DVD collection called The
Biggest Bang which was, essentially, a documentary of several shows from their 2005-2006 A Bigger Bang Tour.
Not surprisingly, the DVD sold more than 20,000 copies in its first week and debuted at #1 on Billboard’s music video chart. Since each DVD of the four-disc set counts as one, the compilation was eventually certified 7x platinum (in U.S for shipments of 700,000 copies).
Some people might be thrilled to learn that, for the first time, the set will be available on Blu-ray (as of today). It seems like a great thing to have and, in addition to the performances in places like Austin, Texas and Shanghai, China, the disc set includes featurettes and duets with Bonnie Raitt (”Shine a Light”), Eddie Vedder (”Wild Horses”) and Dave Matthews (”Let It Bleed”).
