Ronnie Brown has talked the talk, but as you know, he now has to walk the walk. Can he do what he says?

Ronnie Brown claims to be among the league’s elite runners. Huh?

There was a stretch in 2007, right before his knee injury where he rattled off 112, 134, 114, and 101 yards and scored 4 TDs. Granted it was the Jets, Raiders, Houston, and the Browns, but still over 100 yards is over 100 yards.

Everyone that had him in their Fantasy Football league was bragging about how great he was and then the knee injury came and Ronnie was out for the year.

Last year he tried to come back too quick and did not have the explosiveness needed to be an elite back as he claims. Was it mental or physical?

He was running, cutting and doing most of the things running backs are asked to do in offseason camps, so he was the poster child for the unexpected comeback.

But coaches saw that although Brown’s body was back, his mind was not. He was hesitant, careful and not as explosive as he had been before the injury, when he was leading the NFL in rushing despite playing on a struggling 2007 team.

Ricky Williams looked better and performed better in pads than Brown. And Patrick Cobbs wasn’t that far behind. It was troubling for a while.

But a year later, and 19 months removed from his surgery, Brown is a different player.

So maybe, if you believe Ronnie Brown, you might want to draft him pretty high in your Fantasy draft this year. One thing is for sure, Miami is looking to extend upon their good season last year and they will need an extra good Ronnie Brown, even if they don’t get an elite Ronnie Brown.
