RSS Feeds on the Go

I’m not sure about you but trying to read blogs on a mobile devices can be a frustrating experience given that wireless pipes still aren’t big enough to deliver a really good user experience. That said, there is hope for road warriors who want to read blogs with mobile RSS readers. In the past, I’ve used Virtual Reach’s Viigo (formerly Newsclip), which magically turns a Blackberry into something beyond just a kick-ass e-mail device. With Viigo, you can easily subscribe to RSS feeds, as well as news information, sports scores and the weather.

A new player on the mobile RSS scene is Vancouver-based Litefeeds, which has developed a reader that lets you subscribe to RSS feeds, e-mail articles to friends, and post articles to your blog. The service, which is currently free, was started two years ago by John Goodall, Ian Butterfield and Darren Inouye. The company, which has been self-funded, is pursuing a number of business models, including a subscription based model on mobile carrier decks or off-deck portals, white label online/mobile readers for corporate customers, and mobile advertising.

OK….I admit it…I had a hand in this one….I pay monthly for not one, but two $5.95 memberships in the club. And I think it’s good value to have my kids on a safe, ad free site….but come to think of it, I have not seen them on it recently….hum….time to cancel those memberships perhaps…this month it’s Webkins they want. Another great Canadian success. Well hats off to the boys in Kelowna! Job well done. An inspiration to us all.
