RSS gets ZapTXT

RSS is a way to get news, post and articles from a blog or website without going to that particular website. Like what the acronym says, RSS is Really Simple Syndication, RSS puts the S in Simple in information syndication. As of late there has been attempts to “simplify” this further with services and apps that deliver information outside of the RSS loop. An alert system for RSS feeds like Pingie and the service from FeedM8. Here comes ZapTXT.

But what makes ZapTXT different? Is it? Apparently much more:

1) You can opt to receive alerts through (i) SMS, (ii) email or (iii) IM device.’

2) You can customize your alert: Create customize search to filter your RSS feeds.

3) You can specify the time and frequency of the alerts -

- Hourly (at one minute past the hour)
- Daily (every day at 11:30 AM PST)
- Hourly between 8AM – 10PM (PST)
- Hourly between 6PM – 11PM (PST)
- As they appear

4) It has widgets for the Internet browser, for the mobile and for web publishers.

5) For Blogs and RSS-enabled websites you can opt to put a ZapTxt button on your site that will allow your punter to get customized key word filtered alerts from your RSS feed. Plus you can get usage reports or attention data based from ZapTxt on how this particular was used. Check out their program here.

Note ZapTXT’s Limitation on Service clause:

You acknowledge that ZapTXT may introduce limits concerning use of the Service, including the maximum notifications/alerts received. You acknowledge that ZapTXT may introduce a paid-for service in the future. You agree that ZapTXT has no responsibility or liability for the RSS filtering and the delivery of notifications/alerts in any way.[Source]

Caveat aside ZaPTXT so far seems to be one of the most powerful RSS-Alert service around. Its not limited to SMS. It is filterable. It is customizable and it comes with an array of widgets.
