Rudi the Lion

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.

Rudi Johnson dreaming about being a Detroit Lion

Cincinnati Bengals v Indianapolis Colts

It did not take long.

One day the Cincinnati Bungles are releasing Rudi Johnson for whatever reason and the next day the Detroit Lions are roaring about signing Rudi Johnson.

Rudi said all the right things.

“The playbook is the main thing right now,” Johnson said. “When I leave here, I’ll be in the playbook 24/7. I know my cell phone is ringing crazy, but I don’t have time for no phone calls right now. I’ve got a lot of work to do.

“That’s all I’m looking forward to doing, man. Once I get that behind me, I can go out and just play football.”

Asked if he expects to start once he gets comfortable, Johnson said: “That’s for the coaches to decide, man. My main thing now is, go and contribute, go out and just make plays, give this team a tough, physical mind-set and just do what I’ve done in the past. … From now on, whatever happens, happens.”

Will Rudi be the bruising runner that averaged 1407 yards from 2004 – 2006? Probably not, but then Tatum Bell would have been, well, Tatum Bell.

Marvin Lewis, the Coach of the Bungles, was never a big Rudi fan and then money got involved. It was time to go.

Before you get all negative on this Lion pickup, at least the Lions signed someone that used to be great.

Rudi is listed as the backup for the Atlanta game as he learns the playbook.

Dreamin? Nobody dreams of being a Lion. Nightmares yes, dreams no. Another season begins….another episode of the Nightmare on Ford Street. Matt Millen the producer? You know its going to be another horror classic. Bring on the Zombies…..I mean fans. Let the carnage begin.

  2. James says:

It is possible that if Rudi is healthy that the Lions got a steal.

  3. RonBFree says:

Steal? I hear the guy he replaced (Tatum No Game Bell) lifted Rudi’s wallet from the Lion’s locker room. Now that’s a steal!!!!

  4. James says:
