Ryan Longwell Kicks Long and Well Because of Tiger Woods

Does the Tiger have any limits in who he inspires?

Nope. That’s what awesome athletes tend to do… inspire people that aren’t even playing the same sport. Such is the case with NFL kicker Ryan Longwell, who says Tiger Woods inspires him to be a better athlete…. and they don’t even work out together! Instead, Tiger lives near Longwell and they talk about sports… GOLF that is, not football.

They talk. That’s it. And it’s apparently enough to give Longwell a mental boost to let him have one of his best year’s ever at the ripe old age of 34.

Longwell has always been a good kicker, just ask Ted Thompson, who traded Longwell while he was with the Green Bay Packers. Thompson felt Longwell was “too old” (at the ripe old age of 30 at the time). Oh, and he was also the Packers leading scorer of all time. So Thompson felt he should be traded. Kind of makes us see why the Packers had a losing season this year, doesn’t it?

Anyways… as I was saying, Longwell has always been a good kicker, but this year he’s really been amazing. He is 6 for 6 in goals over 50 yards! That’s just crazy people!

Okay, so what have we learned from this little snippet? That Tiger Woods is amazing (like we didn’t already know that.)…. that Ted Thompson knows as much about football as Tiger Woods….. and that the Green Bay Packers have yet another reason to feel lousy.
