Safari Now Showing In A Windows Near You

June 12, 2007 by Juan Magdaraog

Apple just released Safari 3 Public Beta. It now runs on Windows. Apple is saying that it’s twice as fast as IE 7 and 1.6 times faster than Firefox 2. But is it better? We’ll find out soon.

Safari was ported to Windows in a strategy that sees it as a development tool for iPhone apps. Apple has said that 3rd party apps can be written for iPhone via the web application model. Meaning they should be written using the latest web standards and run on the iPhone via Safari. This is the primary driving force why it was ported to Windows.

Will the strategy work?
