Saints’ Heath Evans Tears his ACL

The New Orleans Saints have had a fantastic offense attack so far this season. However, the Saints will now have to continue on without fullback Heath Evans. Evans, who came over from the New England Patriots in the offseason, suffered a torn ACL in Week 7.

On the season, Evans had five rushes for 16 yards and a touchdown. He also had ten receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns. While the stats might not look overly great, Evans ability to produce from the fullback position was an important aspect to New Orleans’ offense.

Evans will also be missed because of the positive influence he had in the locker room.

“Heath was not only a real productive player, but he’s an awesome guy — an awesome locker room guy, great for that running backs room,” said quarterback Drew Brees.

To help replace Evans, the Saints signed Kyle Eckel. Lynell Hamilton and David Thomas could also see some time at tight end.

In Week 8, the Saints will try to improve to 7-0 when they take on the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football.
