Sam Bradford, Birthday, and Noodling

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Had a fun night last night going to a 30th birthday party with actual adults. If you are a parent then you realize how precious these times can be. At the end of the night we were all joking around about our own childhoods and the ones our kids have now.
Upon getting home the wife was ready to go to bed, but there was just too much still going on in our house. Kids will be kids, you know, and it was a raucous household. So, there was that college national championship game on my DVR.
The Detroit Lions will be looking for a franchise qb in the draft and two of them played in that game. My friends raved about Bradford, but were unsure about Tebow. It was time to find out what the ultimate truth was.
Sure enough, Tebow looked strong and classic in his throwing motion. He could move and move he did, often running for first downs during the game. The announcers were critical of this due to the possible injury factor and how that reduced his value as a NFL player, but maybe they should stop and think of Steve Young of the Bill Walsh 49ers and how he learned to run away from the defense instead of right at it.
Bradford, on the other hand, had a very efficient motion and did not move around a lot in the pocket. My friend compared it to playing a video game as he read the defense and snapped off passes. The DVR allowed me to slow his motion down and look at it. He has a very quick delivery and that would be essential behind my Detroit Lions offensive line.
Bradford’s passing motion reminded me of someone. Hmm, oh, Joe Namath! The same efficient delivery. The same ability to quickly read defenses and with Joe’s bad knees, he also stood in the pocket a lot.
Time out: dreaming about Bradford throwing to a Lions wide receiver. He looks good.
