Sampras vs. Federer, Round 1

It doesn’t come as any great surprise that Roger Federer won the first of the exhibition matches over Pete Sampras, 6-4, 6-3. Sampras has been retired for five years and Federer is playing at the top of his game. No, no great big surprises here.

Sampras was one of Federer’s heroes when he was a young player and Roger admitted to “tensing up a bit” for the match.

I remember watching Sampras play. He was beautiful to watch on the court – his movement and his shot selection. Oi vey!

But Sampras gets two more shots against the current world No. 1 to put on a bit more of a show. Stay tuned Thursday and Saturday for those edge-of-the-seat results.
