Samurize
Lifehacker turned me on to a nifty little tool today called Samurize. Samurize is a tool that will display the output of your command line wanderings to your desktop. The configuration is kind of convoluted but the app works really well. Reminds me of Linux on my box.
1. Right-click on the Samurize icon in your system tray and click “Edit Config File”
2. Right-click on the gray design area in the center of the window and click “Add Console Program”
3. Click on the source tab on the right of the window.
4. In the command line text box, replace the default “NetStat -e” with bash –login -i -c “rem -c+2″. (Editor: replace “rem -c+2″ with your preferred command, like “todo.sh listpri” or “head todo.txt”)
5. Click on the Display tab on the right of the window.
6. Click on the Select Font button about half-way down the control panel
7. Change the font to Terminal (or any other non-proportional font) and close the font dialog
8. Hit Ctrl-S to save the configuration and close the editor window.
9. Right-click on the Samurize system-tray icon and click “Reload Config.”
