San Diego Fires – 2

I was born in San Diego County… my kids were born in the county. I was just talking with my son; neither of us has ever seen anything like what’s happening all around us. My home town, Fallbrook, which is in way north county, is getting evacuated; Del Mar and Solona Beach – right on the Pacific are getting warnings that they may be evacuated soon.
I finally found a net source that makes sense to me. It’s Jim 2.0’s Blog. Jim seems to be mostly a programmer, although he’s got some interesting philosophy links etc. Whatever it is, he’s done a great job providing links to maps and other information at a post he calls San Diego Fire Resources (Witch Fire & others, Oct 2007).

Thanks for the kind words. I hope they get the fires under control before the winds get any worse than they already are. This is already looking to be really bad. Maybe even as bad as the Cedar fire a few years ago.

Anne, our prayers and good thoughts are with you — I can’t imagine having to deal with the thought of fires racing down mountainsides, consuming homes, and everything in between.
Stay safe and I hope that the rains come very soon.
Thanks Matt… fortunately I’m safe and so is my son and his family… but it’s bloody amazing.
I’m in LA and we are nowhere near as affected. But we want to help. What do you need and how can we get it to you?
Rocio, I think the best thing to do is contribute money… through the Red Cross or Father Joe’s – http://www.fatherjoesvillages.org/donations.html
I trust him completely and he just put out a call for dollars.
Prayers, good thoughts, etc. also truly appreciated.
