NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Jerry Rice. Who would have thought that one of the best all-time players in NFL Football would have went to college at Mississippi Valley State? Well, he did and now he is going to retire.
At one time, after he left San Francisco, there was talk of Jerry Rice becoming one of my beloved Detroit Lions. It never happened and he went to Oakland. Detroit was running the West Coast Offense and it seemed a good fit. Jerry was known as an incredibly hard worker and maybe just the influence that the Lions needed.
Jerry Rice. The man had 22 touchdowns in 1 year as a receiver. Unbelievable.
Of course, we have been down this retirement road recently with Junior Seau, but this time it seems like the real thing.
NFL Football Jerry Rice factoid In College in 1983 Jerry Rice had 102 receptions, an NCAA record. 24 of those catches came against Southern. The following year he had an NCAA best 27 touchdown receptions.
You look at his pro stats and they are unbelievable. One year he averaged over 20 yards per reception! He had an 11 year string of over 1,000 yard seasons. 11 years! He had 4 100 yard reception years and a couple more in the 90’s. It just goes on and on and on.
NFL Football Fan Question Is Jerry Rice in your top 5 of all time? It is hard to deny.
