Hi, Karen:

Thanks for your message. Oddly enough, my family and I just returned from a slightly less exciting trip, to Springfield, Ill. (It is the state's capital, and we went so our son could see the Abraham Lincoln monuments and museum.) Here, the real estate scene is as different from San Jose as you can imagine. Housing prices are falling, and there are "For Sale" signs everywhere. It was actually a bit depressing.

I just came back from a trip to San Jose and while I was there, I browsed through a real estate ad booklet. My eyes popped out at the prices-- 1.2 million for a 1,330 square foot home--yikes! Definitely a seller's market there.
