Sarah Palin’s Jet Not Actually Sold on eBay
I was intrigued when I heard Sarah Palin’s speech at the RNC that she put the jet (belonging to the state government of Alaska) on eBay. My ears always perk up when I hear eBay in the news, and let’s face it, Sarah Palin is big news right now.
I have done some digging and learned that the jet did not sell on eBay, although she listed it there 3 times. The item had bids, but the reserve was not met so the sale did not take place.
The jet, a 1984 Westwind II was eventually sold the through an aircraft broker. The final selling price was 2.1 million.

Oh, ok…another misleading statement by Sarah Palin. Hmmm….
She never said it sold on ebay. She said she put it on ebay and she did.
Some idiots will jump at anything and try to make it seem unflattering.
I agree, Blondie. She never said she sold it. Many governement agencies use eBay to sell surplus or other items, so the listing of the item isn’t anything out of the ordinary. I just found it interesting that she mentioned eBay during her speech.
It was not a misleading statement. She stated she listed in on eBay. Just because it didn’t sell doesn’t mean she didn’t list it. I thought it was totally cool that she actually listed it. The point of her statement was that she felt it was unnecessary spending and didn’t use it. Not many politicians (or anyone) would give up that kind of luxury.

No. She never said it sold on eBay. But she did say it sold at a profit. Lie. It sold at a loss of $300,000.

“I got rid of a few things in the Governor’s office that I didn’t think our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay.”
