11/8 – DEI has promoted Dave Charpentier (current crew chief of the no. 15 driven by Paul Menard) to the operation’s Technical Director. Additionally, they have hired Doug Randolf (current Crew Chief for Bobby LaBonte) to take over the box for Menard next season.
11/8 – Former IRL Champ Sam Hornish Jr. has inked a deal to drive a third car for Roger Penske next season. Hornish will drive the no. 77 for Penske, but since this is a new team, they will start with no owner points. Early talk is that they move the owner points from the no. 2 driven by Kurt Busch over to Hornish’s team to guarantee the team a starting spot in the first five races of 2008. Hornish has also entered his name for both the Busch and Nextel Cup races this weekend at Phoenix.
11/9 – Hall of Fame Racing has announced that they will drive under the Toyota banner next year.
11/9 – Best Buy has signed a deal as the primary sponsor for the no. 19 Ray Evernham Dodge driven by Elliott Saddler for 15 races next season.
Apologies for not having up-to-date info regarding practice and qualifying, however these news updates were written earlier in the day on Friday.
