11/14 – DEI employee Brian Chase was one of 30 veterans enlisted in the Combat Aircrew Roll of Honor at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum at Charleston Harbor, SC on Friday, November 9th. Brain served in the US Navy from 1966 – 1970.
11/14 – Drew Blickensderfer – Crew Chief to Matt Kenseth’s no. 17 Ford in the Busch Series – was fined $10,000 for the right rear quarter panel being exceeding maximum height limits in post-race inspection following the race in Phoenix. The team was also docked 25 driver points and 25 owner points.
11/14 – Speedway Motorsports Inc. promoted Jerry Gappens to Executive Vice President and GM of their recently purchased New Hampshire International Speedway.
11/14 – Bobby LaBonte announced the formation of his new full-service marketing company – Breaking Limits, LLC. LaBonte will serve as the company’s president.
11/15 – Max Jones left Roush Racing as the GM of operations to become the new co-owner of Robert Yates Racing. Jones will also serve as the GM at Yates.
11/15 – Roush Fenway Racing filled the void left by Jones by promoting Robby Reiser to the GM of their racing operations. Reiser has been the Crew Chief for Matt Kenseth since 1997, back in his Busch Series days, and is the only full-time Crew Chief Kenseth has ever known.
11/16 – Jim Beam will continue its partnership with Robby Gordon as the primary sponsor for the no. 7 Chevy for the fourth consecutive year. The deal includes the Jim Beam logo on the hood of the car for 13 Sprint Cup races and 2 Nationwide Series races in 2008.
11/16 – Roush Fenway Racing announced that Chip Bolin will replace Robby Reiser as the Crew Chief for the no. 17 team in the Sprint Cup Series next year. Bolin has been with the team as an engineer since the team’s inception to Cup Racing back in 1999.
11/16 – Dale Jarrett is auctioning off his Toys for Tots uniform to benefit needy families during the holiday season. The auction ends on Monday, November 19th.
11/16 – Jimmie Johnson – winner of the last four Cup races – was the fastest in Cup qualifying and will start Sunday’s season finale from the front row. Behind him will be Ryan Newman, Kasey Kahne, Matt Kenseth, and Kurt Busch. Teammate Jeff Gordon will begin the race from the 11th position.
