Tired of wasting time (and gas) stuck in traffic? Check out Traffic.com’s “Check Your Drive Time” feature. You’ll get results updated for traffic, roadwork, and other hold-ups, plus have the ability to map alternative routes.

You’ll also be able to search metro areas to get traffic newsflashes, like flood warnings and road closings, as well as see their traffic hotspts - rated from clear (0) to jammed (10).

Don’t forget … comment to win a 2009 “green” road atlas from Rand McNally

  1. I could have used this yesterday. We were traveling on I-40 West and were caught in traffic for 1 1/2 hours. They were fixing an overpass bridge. There were cranes blocking the road, but no one was operating them. It was really frustrating!!!! Lots of gas has been wasted because of that problem.

1 1/2 hours?? Oh my word. That’s terrible. Hopefully this will help in the future. ;)

  3. Yep, it was miserable. We couldn’t turn off our cars either because most of the time we were driving at about 3-4 mph. I googled the shut down and they said it would be in effect for another week! Eeek!

We were stuck in a line like that on our way to Walt Disney World … down a friggin’ mountain! Thankfully we were behind the logging truck, and not the other way around. lol That would have made me nervous x 10.

  5. I know what you mean. I had a 2 and 4 year old with me. The 4 year old had an accident in her carseat!!!! Ugh! Then we had to pull over and let them potty . . . in the woods! There was no where else to go. Some girl’s car started overheating. I had some water with me, so I was able to help her out. I hate getting stuck like that.

Aww, poor kid. :( And poor mom. It sounds like this was a pretty crappy day.
