I purchased a Prius 2009 without a GSP unit. Is there any way that I can get a GPS navigation system added to the Prius without breaking the bank, or at a reasonable cost. I already have a GPS system, that I can rig up, but I would like to have it installed in the regular screening system of the Prius. Please let me know my options. Thanks.

Hilary…

I got it up and running. It was the Prius really. I was moving when I was trying to sync it up, and all of the functions on my nav system weren’t running properly. When you’re at a light or just parked somewhere, your nav system (at least mine) works better.

Anyway… after hitting the info button on left side of the screen, I pressed “telephone” and then worked my way on from there. “Add Phone” is what you want when prompted. There is a screen after you hit “telephone” where there is a little tab on the left-hand side; much like a page up page down thing. Press that until you see “add phone”. From there you should be able to figure out the rest. Before you start though, make sure your bluetooth setting on your i-phone is set to “on”; you want to be discoverable when you punch in the password. Hope this helps.

Thanks for commenting on my post. No, nothing happens other than the wheely thing at the top of the phone just spins, and spins, and spins, and spins. I have an appt. with the dealer tonight after work to see if something can be done. If not, the phone will have to go back unfortunately. I really rely on my bluetooth feature. Hopefully they’ll be able to work out the bug.

Just for a bit of clarification: Your iPhone isn’t being recognized at all? Does anything happen at all when you try to set it up?

Hillary… (and others possibly) I’m having issues with my i-phone not syncing up with the bluetooth in my 2004 prius (loaded with nav. sys). I have been on other sites where I’m reading about others being able to do it, but no one has said how. My mot. razr had no problems linking up. It’s essential that my i-phone syncs up or else I’m going to have to take it back. If anyone has a clue or can assist me in solving this problem please post it here! Thank you.

How did you get it to sync up? There were several people who mentioned this, so maybe it’s a settings issue.

2004 Prius bluetooth works flawlessly with my iPhone.

As part of the car, the Nav system is integrated into the steering, and audio comes through the speakers. (These features are available with some aftermarket models.) Toyota Nav also has bluetooth capabilities and can link to certain PDAs and cellphones. (NOT THE IPHONE!)
