Schilling vs. Kobe, Round Two

That would be a great boxing match-up, wouldn’t it? Though Schilling might pack a harder punch, Kobe would stick and move all over the ring. Eventually, Schilling would keel over in exhaustion.

It’s hardly a boxing match, more like playground name calling really. Schilling took a few stabs at Kobe after game two of the Finals. He was sitting courtside with his Larry Bird jersey and his gawdy championship ring. And he was paying attention, but not to the game, to Kobe’s antics.

Being the famous blogger that he is, Schilling wrote about it on his website, 38 Pitches:

Kobe. This one stunned me a little bit. Who doesn’t know Kobe Bryant right? I only know what I have heard, starting awhile back with the entire Shaq debacle. I don’t really have an opinion one way or the other on or about him other than to know that people feel he might be one of the 4-5 greatest players to ever lace it up. What I do know is what I got to see up close and hear, was unexpected. From the first tip until about 4 minutes left in the game I saw and heard this guy bitch at his teammates. Every TO he came to the bench pissed, and a few of them he went to other guys and yelled about something they weren’t doing, or something they did wrong. No dialog about “hey let’s go, let’s get after it” or whatever. He spent the better part of 3.5 quarters pissed off and ranting at the non-execution or lack of, of his team …

The rest of it is just as priceless.

I know how Schilling can come off as pompous and all, but I have to agree with him on this. Kobe’s been acting more like a bratty five-year-old than an NBA star in these Finals. But I’ll keep those opinions to myself since this is about Schilling vs. Kobe and not Lyndsey vs. Kobe.

Kobe responded humorously when he was asked about Schilling’s comments Wednesday during a press conference. He said, “Go Yankees!”

Round three anyone?

Don’t forget — I’ll be blogging live tonight during game four of the NBA Finals!
