Crysis not only has spectacular graphics, but also has incredible gameplay. it is not nearly as linear as COD4 were you cant even shoot down a fence. Crysis though a linear game, has many nonlinear levels, which you can approach from any angle you want. Crysis also boasts great AI, unlike COD4 AI who can't do more than stand and shoot at you in great numbers.

THough i think COD4 is a great game, Cryisis overshadows it in about every way. (except for multiplayer)

@Alex
Two words regarding Half-Life--Gravity Gun. 'Nuff said.

@Anna
Alex isn't a big fan of Perfect Dark, LOL. I can make a very long post about his dislike. ;) His comments are in one of the older posts somewhere.

@Shishkabab
Good point. However, I've yet to try the game myself. Blame it on my cheapassedness, but I can't seem to stomach parting with a huge chunk of cash just to put together a rig capable of playing Crysis hehe. They say it's fantastic. Aside from its graphics, what makes the game hall-of-fame worthy?

@GotGame.com
Amen to Unreal Tournament--for its PC versions, at least.

If Bioshock somehow made it in the list even without multiplayer and more enemy types, then why is Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay not included? It blows Bioshock easily out of the water. Easily.

Yeah, I agree with Mike . . . it's not possible to have a Top 10 list . . . but, adding in my two cents, how can there be a Top 10 list without Unreal Tournament???

Perfect Dark > Goldeneye.....It took the shell that was Goldeneye's gameplay and story, and took it to a whole new level.

Doom should be listed as a franchise. I love Doom 3 and all, but Doom 1 and 2 were the eye-openers.

Same goes for Half-Life. Half-Life 2 was decent for certain things (presentation), but lousy for others (pacing). In fact, what the Half-Life series did really well was the presentation. The sense of immersion and playable "cut-scenes."

I'd agree with CounterStrike being on here. Good game, introduced many more players to online FPS. Decent balance. Fun game modes.

Duke Nukem 3D? Eeegh. Not so much. It's a fun game but I don't know if it's really Top 10 material.

Bioshock. On-the-fence about this one. Most of the time, it feels like a Metroid Prime style First Person Adventure, especially since the shooting component in Bioshock is so-so. Bioshock is all about atmosphere. The steampunk-inspired guns play into that.

Halo is another *franchise* listing. The original was decent, if only because it opened up larger multiplayer gaming for a wider market. Halo 2 pushed Xbox Live forward, and without Halo 2, I doubt console online would be as robust as we have currently. Halo 3 has the same problems as the first two games, but did enough right in terms of online gaming, matchmaking, Forge, and Theater that it should definitely be factored in.

And GoldenEye is brilliant always. 2.X control scheme, baby. Dual analog.
