Seahawks dominate Redskins in close game?

NFL Football at its best. NFL Football at its craziest.
Joe Gibbs can’t believe it
It was like the momentum had swung all the way into the hands of the Washington Redskins and visions of a Sean Taylor memorial Super Bowl was dancing in their heads.
The final score was Seattle 35 – Washington 14.
Note from intrepid author: Be sure to read to the bottom to see the real reason Seattle wins. It is not what you think.
Oddly, this was a close game at one time firmly planted in Washington’s direction.
Then swoosh, it changed and the winds blew in the other direction. The game became all Seattle in the 4th quarter and all because of two plays.
The first play involved Nate Burleson of the Seattle Seahawks. It was really strange. Washington had just scored to take the lead early in the fourth quarter and Matt Hasselbeck was not playing very good at all.
It appeared at that point that with a good defensive stand that Washington could win the game. They were leading 14 – 13.
Then the second play that moved everything in Seattle’s direction was a missed field goal.
The kickoff after the touchdown took a huge bounce over Nate Burleson and was recovered by Washington at the Seattle 14. The Seahawks defense knuckled up and forced a field-goal attempt by Shaun Suisham, who missed wide left from 30 yards. source
Nate’s head was hanging low at that point, but the key was that Washington did not score. When young Suisham miss that field goal it was as if steam began to come out of Washington’s team at that point.
Washington had a chance to put a stamp of control on the game and failed to take advantage.
Matt Hasselbeck
Then Seattle just poured it on and a close game got out of hand.
Hasselbeck managed to shake off his interceptions and take advantage of good field position. His 20-yard touchdown pass to D.J. Hackett, and subsequent two-point conversion pass to Marcus Pollard, gave the Seahawks a 21-14 lead with 6:06 remaining.
That signaled the disintegration of Washington. All of the emotion the team had been playing with and fed off of in the wake of safety Sean Taylor’s shooting death in November and the big plays Collins and company had made to get into the playoffs came to a head. source
Why Seattle wins
All you have to do is ask Todd Collins. What is the Seattle secret?
Todd Collins – Man, Seattle was all over me!
In recent years past it was the balanced high powered attack of Shuan Alexander at running back and Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback with elite receivers that drove the Seattle team. Now it is the speedy defensive 7 linemen that dominate.
Again ask Todd Collins. It times it was like he was getting the snaps and the defensive linemen at the same time. Todd threw 2 interceptions and was sacked 3 times and hurried all day long.
Yes, Seattle is winning with a fast outside defensive rush and a strong push up the middle.
This game was much closer than the score, but Washington could not live off of the emotion of Sean Taylor’s death forever. Sean will be remembered and Washington should be proud.
For Seattle, it is off to Green Bay for a much tougher test. They survived this one with some great 4th quarter play.
NFL Football Fan Question Was that kickoff the strangest looking football play?

I’ve never seen that take place on a kick-off before (and probably never will again). Completely bizarre.
