Sean Rodriguez strikes out after 4-2 count

After working the count to 4-2, Los Angels Angels hitter Sean Rodriguez ended up striking out against Detroit Tigers pitcher Aquilino Lopez. Maybe Major League Baseball should reconsider what instant replay can help umpires with during the game. True, no one argued or even second-guessed the count of the at bat, but the announcers noticed.

From the video you can see the entire at bat and after the unique strikeout, listen to Fox Sports Detroit play-by-play announcer Mario Impemba figure out that an extra pitch was thrown.

It’s not the first time an umpire has lost count this season. Just a couple of weeks ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers were on the right end of a lost count by an umpire as outfielder Andre Ethier drew a five-ball walk.
