Both Google and Yahoo have made changes to their local section to help make it easier for searchers to find their local small business, and to make it easier for business owners to get their business found.

Check out this Google Youtube Video promo for their Google Local Small Business website.

Google is now offering small businesses information about their website, and their visitors. Their also offering local businesses help for common problems. The best part about it is, it’s still free.

Yahoo is also stepping up their local business help. Yahoo local helps potential customers find your restaurant, retail store, or hair salon. They also have a new tab called Neighbors where you can see if anyone has posted something about your area (up to a 50 mile radius).

Take full advantage of both of these free resources to get your local business listed, and found by new customers. More and more people are looking for businesses online. If you don’t have some type of an online presence, no matter how small your business is, you could be missing out on major customers.

The Google Local Business Listings really is a fantastic service. A great way to use your listing is to use your business name as a free testing billboard for your business. Testing different headlines in your business name will give you different conversion data that you can use in other marketing channels.
