Season 6 – The Apprentice – Week 7

Week 7: Luxury & Lexus

Recap the teams were given the task of hosting an event – “create special owner experience for a group of preferred guest to introduce the new flagship sedan, LX 460. The team with the highest customer satisfaction score will win.

I have very few words this week. This episode of The Apprentice, made me question why I even watch the show. Once again, the show was poor. Why? Because the players, the people interviewing for this job have very little to offer. Especially in the area of integrity, teamwork and fair play. Derek’s comments at the beginning of the show and the end of the show were completely inappropriate. His exact comment, “Regardless of what Jennifer does on the task, I will gun for Jennifer and get rid of her.” What is that? I am not shocked that he felt that way, I was shocked that he said it out loud. Clearly it was his strategy throughout the show, from the beginning of the season, see week 4.

The outcome of the task, placed Arrow in the winners circle again. Their Customer Satisfaction Survey came in at 94 out of a possible 100. Kinetic came in at 84. YEAH!! In the end, Derek was fired for making a derogatory statement about himself. He was not joking and ultimately, it was time for him to go. Jennifer, Kinetic’s project manager was fired for making poor decisions and poor leadership.

Lessons You Can Learn:

Human Nature – I have to go back to Derek’s performance in this episode. It was atrocious. It took about 7 weeks for Derek to let the cat out of the bag and show himself – the real Derek to the viewing public. Let me say, that I am not all that surprised. I questioned his motives back in week 3 when he allowed Marissa to take the blame for the marketing mess on the Pollo Bowl task.

Truth or Consequences was a game show way back when. My favorite line. “Will the real _____________ (put your name in the blank), please stand up. In this case, “will the real Derek please stand up.” Derek, the real one, showed up on the show tonight. You can fake it in an interview. You can even misrepresent yourself for a few weeks after getting a new job, but if you are not for real, you will eventually let it be known, one way or another.

  1. Jennifer says:

Very good. That is very true about how people can put on a show, then show who they are when they are trying to get what they want amd use any way they know how.
