Season 7 – The Apprentice – Week 5

celebrity-apprentice2.jpgThe opening of the show with Omorosa hoping that Carol gets fired and then she is the first person to hug her when she walks in the door which was very telling of who she is as a person.

Unfortunately, that was a foreshadowing of a two hour distraction, that ended with Vinnie Pastore quitting and leaving the show.

Task: Soles United – Croc Awareness Campaign – Create an In-store receptacle bin.

The bottom line of the show this week is that Empresario finally got a win!! The ladies beat the men with an excellent presentation.

Tonight’s show was more about the Ethical Dilemma the teams faced with Vinnie Pastore as a “spy, snitch and/or double agent.” If you missed the show you missed men doing some underhanded things. The truth is, it happens every day of the week in probably at least 80% or more of the organizations out there.

Three Ethical Issues:

1. Piers Morgan as the leader sending a team member to the other side for the purpose of sabotage. He also admitted he didn’t value his team member and his ultimate motive was for Vinnie Pastore to be fired.

2. Vinne Pastore as employee allowing himself to be used for unethical purposes. Despite the fact that he had a change of heart, Vinnie had no way to recover from his choice to be the agent of inappropriate information gathering.

3. Ivanka Trump did not represent business leaders well. She had no problem with what the men did. She attempted to scold them in the boardroom, but I would have had more respect for her and the show if there had been a stronger response on the inappropriate, unethical behavior.

Lessons Learned:

1. As a leader you have a responsibility to VALUE all of your employees. Even the ones you don’t like.

2. As an employee you have a responsibility to speak up when you are asked to do something inappropriate or unethical. It is difficult recover if you go along with the request and attempt to change your mind. Walk from a place of integrity every day. When things like this come your way, respond, speak up, ask for assistance. Do whatever it takes to ensure your integrity is never in question.

3. Business leaders, business owners, have a responsibility to operate from integrity. When faced with mess like we saw on the show tonight, be tough, be decisive. Send a clear message to your employees and prospective employees that unethical behavior and inappropriate tactics are unacceptable.

  1. Eric says:

Why Piers didn’t get fired ?
    What do you think ?

  2. Piers didn’t get fired for two reasons. The first is that Vinnie Pastore quit before Mr. Trump could really speak to the issue of sending Vinnie into the Empresario to spy.

The second is, I think at some level Mr. Trump has no problem with cheating as long as you don’t get caught or you win. If Vinnie had allowed the Board room to play out, he probably would still be on the show and Piers would have went home.

  3. Mick says:

I think the question is who would you pick Piers or Vinnie? For me from business perspective in a very competitive environment I will take Piers. He will get things done one way or the other if your interest is gaining on your competitor. Now if your business is some kind of charity like, then you ought to pick Vinnie because Piers is liability for your image for his aggressive tactics, and that is the only reason Donald could have fired him.

  4. Hi Mick! Thanks for visiting Interview Chatter. I appreciate your answer concerning Vinnie and Piers. From a business perspective, if I am going to war, I would probably pick Piers to help get me there, but I have issues with his integrity and his ability to take of others.

I believe people are valuable. ALL people, and I don’t get the feeling that Piers feels the same way. To your point, Piers is a liability. And I think, based on the commercials, it becomes evident in the next episode. But we shall see.

No matter what happens this week, I don’t believe Piers hangs around much longer. If he is as disruptive this week as he has been really throughout the program, I believe Mr. Trump will boot him!

Mick, one last question… who would you pick for your business if you had to choose between Omorosa and Piers? Anyone else have a thought?

  5. Gin says:

Omorosa is a 2 faced, maybe 3 faced, hostile, emasculating biotch. She has no business on television. I am disappointed in the Donald’s not seeing right through her evil ways.

  6. I definitely have no argument concerning your opinion of Omorosa, however this was not the week for her to get fired. Omorosa should have been fired this past week.

For the sake of fair play, and I do believe in that, Omorosa, like any other player or employee should be measured on performance and overall fit in the organization. The minute Mr. Trump brought her back to the show, she has as much right as any of the other players, to be considered for the title of Celebrity Apprentice.

Omorosa should have been fired for her poor performance and hostile behavior towards her project manager. No matter what he did. That being said, I believe he (Piers Morgan) should have been fired this past week as well. It should have been a 2 for 1. And make them leave in the same limo. 7. Joe Williams says:

Hey! What happened to the sweet and lovely Carol, Mr. Trump’s assistant in the first shows?

  8. Joe Williams says:

What I meant , in addition to my previous post, was that if your’e gonna “bring” somebody, why not her? She has a lot more to add to the program than anyone else I can think of, including the big/wide ‘O’

  9. Hi Joe! Thank you for visiting Interview Chatter today. In answer to your question, Carolyn of Trump’s organization was terminated. She was terminated because she stopped performing at the level she use to perform at prior to the Apprentice. This according to Mr. Trump. Here is a link to his blog concerning Carolyn.

    Thanks for your question!
