As the summer draws to a close and the kids get back in school business starts to get back into full swing. A new networking season has started, and you don’t want to miss the home opener. September is when most local Chamber of commerce start holding event again. This is your chance to join the starting line-up and show your community why they need to know you.

Start by becoming a resource. Many Chambers find that when they restart events in the fall that people who helped with every event last year have other things to do this year, or have forgotten to schedule time to help organize. Find a way to help the organizer and make your chambers first autumn event a smashing success. Here is a list of a few ways to get in the door with your local organization.

  • Help arrange for a location, or volunteer yours
  • Engage your network and personally invite your contacts
  • Leave flyers for the event at local banks and grocery stores
  • Prepare something behind the scenes

Volunteering to help the local chamber organizer is seen by many as a way to get your face in front of people. Doing tasks for the organizes that aren’t in the spotlight, or even recognized publicly, are a great way to become best friends with the organizers and then once you are in the limelight the chamber leaders have already been saying good things about you behind your back.
