Segway and General Motors are partnering together to make a two-wheeled vehicle that they hope solves a lot of the issues facing transportation in urban areas. The prototype of the two-wheeled vehicle weighs 300 pounds, has two seats, can go as fast as 35 MPH and is capable of running for one hour after a charge.

General Motors has faced a massive amount of financial problems in recent months. In fact, there have even been rumors coming out of Detroit that GM could face bankruptcy soon. With this announcement, GM may be hoping to hit a home run and save their company.

To make the vehicle appealing to consumers, Segway and General Motors said that it’d be a cheap, safe and eco-friendly alternative to a regular four-wheeled vehicle. While the two-wheeled vehicles are anywhere near a reality, both Segway and GM said they were dedicated to the idea.

Right now, the two-wheeled vehicles are known as PUMA – or the Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility project.
