Self-Publishing As A Lifestyle?

book.jpgHas self-publishing evolved or devolved to the place where it can be called a lifestyle? That’s the question asked at the Institute for the Future of the Book’s blog, If:book called: borders self-publishing and the idea of vanity

It’s an interesting essay worth reading and contemplating.

    I think there’s a huge difference between self-publishing and vanity publishing. How to explain it is kind of complicated, but my feeling is that it’s all about your attitude going into it, and there are good and bad reasons to do either.

    I agree and the distinction is getting harder and harder to articulate… at least for me it’s more of a gut feeling these days.
