Selling Digital Goods – Webmoney Just Does It Better!

(DigitalMoneyWorld.com) Selling online can be a scary thing for most people. Credits card processing, banner marketing, spam, scams and it never seems to stop…..if you are new to this type of market it can seem overwhelming. This is especially true if you are selling a digital product such as an ebook or a download that is electronically delivered. There are many web sites that will help you along the way with domain set ups, methods of payment, customers, sales tips and instructions for delivery of digi-goods.

Of course you can always go to larger operator such as Amazon or eBay and try to get your business up and running. However, both of these options, and others larger corporations, will automatically reject certain sellers because of their products, location, method of payment, lack of credit card payments or verification of the seller’s identity. I took a look around the web and found a few operators allowing digital download sales and found some good ones.

e-junkie seemed good.

“E-junkie provides shopping cart and buy now buttons to let you sell downloads and tangible goods on your website, eBay, MySpace, Google Base, CraigsList and other websites using PayPal, Google Checkout, Authorize.Net, TrialPay, 2CheckOut and ClickBank. For merchants selling downloads, we automate and secure the digital delivery of files and codes. You can sell ebooks, sell mp3 tracks and albums, sell software, icons, fonts, artwork, phone cards, event tickets, cds, posters, books, t-shirts and almost everything else you want to sell. E-junkie has no transaction limit, no bandwidth limit, no setup fee and no transaction fee.”

Zipidee was also very cool.

“Zipidee was created to empower PGC (Prosumer Generated Content) digi-good owners…to generate revenue from their assets with a turnkey platform. Zipidee is the online marketplace for all digital media: video, music, eBooks, ringtones, wallpaper, and more. The platform is self-serve, so you can get your goods to market in minutes.”

PayLoadz I liked.

“We provide a service to sell download able items such as: Software, eBooks, music, movies, digital art, manuals, articles, certificates, forms, files, and anything else that can be downloaded. Our automated service delivers your products to your customers instantly after payment. Our system operates using PayPal’s online payment system and Google Checkout.”

All of these are really great services, but one big problem for me existed. All of these helpful webs, including Amazon and eBay, accepted or allow sales using my favorite digital currencies such as Webmoney, Pecunix, e-gold, e-bullion or Liberty Reserve.

I don’t like credit cards and neither do my friends and customers (potential). Connecting me with PayPal, Google Checkout, Authorize.Net, TrialPay, 2CheckOut won’t really work for my target market, which is digital currency users.

Where was Ukash, PayByCash, clickandbuy, paysafecard, Webmoney or e-gold? Clearly the e-gold SCI is much easier and faster to set up and operate than Authorize.net! Not to mention—instant set up, free and accepted globally.

It seems that digital content such as music downloads is an IDEAL product to sell using my favorite digital currency shopping carts and ‘buy it’ buttons. Digital currency offers instant payment, no chargebacks, no rolling ‘reserve’, plus free and easy entry for merchants. I could not believe that all of the web sites and sellers I found did not offer or accept an alternative payment options.

Stop the world, I want to get off. Help! Was I to be left out in the cold when I wanted to try my hand as a digi-seller accepting e-currency?

Webmoney to the rescue!

My friend Peter D. over at Webmoney introduced me to Plati.ru and DigiSeller. For those of you who don’t speak Russian, here’s the babelfish translation page.

I’m told that one of Webmoney’s first and most successful projects was the trade platform used by plati.ru AKA digiseller.com . Here anyone can upload their digital goods including PIN-codes, e-books, MP3s, design templates, logins, passwords, prepaid cards and sell them using their own storefront on plati.ru. Obviously, the Russian language barrier is preventing many of us entry into this market but I’m also told that here in November, this Webmoney’s web site Plati.ru is great for digital sellersplatform and web will receive a version 2.0 makeover and expansion which will include an English version of the web site. Hopefully, by the end of the year, that huge market will be open to English speaking buyers and sellers.

What’s different about plati.ru and all the others I’ve mentioned before in this post?

My favorite target market for anything on the Net, is digital currency users. Besides Webmoney, other digital currencies such as e-gold, Pecunix, Liberty Reserve can be easily exchanged (swapped) for Webmoney so all my friends can shop here. PayPal does not allow their digital money to be exchange anywhere except their own bank! This marketplace, does not like the credit card fraud, so here, digital currency rules.

Even if you would like to pay using another e-currency, they have arranged a fast working option via Roboxchange.

I’m told this service is still one of the largest in RU-net. Buyers are happy to immediately obtain PINs (from all Russian & Ukrainian MNOs, ISPs and games like WorldOfWarcraft etc.) Buyers using the WM interface immediately receive the returning digital content back from the WM merchant system. Its fast, efficient and best of all no chargebacks or high fees.

How popular and successful is the Webmoney digi-operation?

Right now the stats read about $600,000 month in sales, 50,000 individual sellers, 66,000 commission selling agents and over 122,000 items in stock. This is a very nice ‘instant market’ for all you sellers to enter next month when the English version is available.

Here the storefront, viral referral program and advertising options built right in along with all those great digital currency buyers.
