SEO Writing Advice

Rico who blogs at Contract Worker has an article about search engine optimizing (SEO) aimed at freelance writers. It’s a pretty good overview of the process.
SEO writing can, if you’re careful about who you deal with, can provide a steady stream of income. In most cases its small income. I’ve done it and my minimum was $10 a page and sometimes I’ve gotten as high as $25.
SEO writing works best if you’re fairly quick and if you write in an area you already know. Most of my SEO writing has been in real estate, which is part of my past.
SEO writing is one of those things you see a lot of ads for, and you have to be careful. Get a contract in writing, and get some money up front when you begin working with a new client. If you’re going to be writing more than a few articles, make sure you set up a payment schedule over the life of the project. This will protect you from writing a ton without getting paid.

Awesomely said, and something that, as an aspiring novelist, have been told my highly successful (even NY Times bestsellers) authors, only a bit different:
Write often, and write well.
I reckon a sincere attempt at both will lead to success, regardless of what you charge per page.
