Seth Rogen: Weightloss Makes Him Feel Like “A Sellout”

Seth Rogen, most noted for his roles in Superbad and Knocked Up, has slimmed down for an upcoming film in which he plays The Green Hornet.
He’s not happy about it.
Contactmusic.com quotes him as saying:
“I’ve been eating better and training – and hating myself for it. I feel like a sell out, I feel lame, I feel like a guy I would make fun of.”
At first I thought he was going to complain about how hard it was, but that’s not it at all. It seems to be that he was fine with his weight before, and purely didn’t want to change. He was by no means obese, (see old Seth here) and while extra body weight negatively effects your health, he didn’t look like he would drop dead of a heart attack at any moment.
What do you think? Is his contentment with his more portly self a refreshing change from the thin-obsessed world of celebrities? His he wrongfully advocating an unhealthy lifestyle? Just illustrating another huge difference between men, women and body image? Are you personally offended that he would probably make fun of you to your face?

This is hilarious!! It sounds like exactly what I said when I first started losing weight. I don’t blame him for the comment, he’s going through a very large lifestyle change and he’s not used to it. His whole life he’s lead a lifestyle that wasn’t dominated by eating healthy and staying fit. Maybe he thinks that nothing needs to change because the way he’s done things in the past have lead him to his success as a movie star.
P.S. I would love it if Seth Rogen personally made fun of me for being in shape!! That in my mind is one of the biggest compliments that another guy can give you.
I love Andrew’s comment above.
What I really love about what Seth did was that he did it the right way and said so: eating right and exercising.
Well, as one who is in the struggle, I can understand it totally. All the planning of food, grocery trips, and exercise can be exhausting. I know that I’m extending my life etc., but sometimes I just want to go back to my harum-scarum way of taking it as it came. I know this is kidlike, but I do understand.
Don’t get me wrong. Being able to jog 6 miles is awesome, but there are some days that I wish I cared less.
Thanks for letting me vent and thanks for the blog. I really enjoy it!
I wish Seth Rogan would make fun of me to my face. Maybe it would get me to loosen up a bit:)
Although, I have to disagree a little bit with the Fit Bottomed Girls – in several articles Seth has said that his trainer pushes him so hard he vomits and faints. Not healthy at all, IMO, and just more Hollywood bull.
it HAS to be so hard when your fame is tied up in yer weight…kevin james is another one whom I wonder, were his comedy not all weightbased, if he’d lose if he werent in the public eye.
I LOVE THE ROGAN.
What!? A negative self-image because he’s in shape.
That’s almost crazy!

He’s right….at some point, don’t those who have a few extra pounds always get asked to lose them? Even the ones who already look healthy (Jennifer Aniston back in the days, Anne Hathaway…)
It’ll be interesting to see what happens after this movie. Will he gain it all back or maybe keep it off?
Either way, I’d marry the boy. Sigh.
congradulation Seth Rogan these all are happy with you and your current fitness.
I just think he is adorable so I can’t find too much fault in whatever he says. But I can say when I first started eating healthier and working out I swore I would never become one of THOSE people… you know, talking about fitness, finding ways to make every meal I cook healthier, reading fitness blogs…. yesh that didn’t quite turn out as planned….
Pressure and the necessities in the film industry make life TOUGH. I hope that he gets more comfortable soon.
I definitely have a few friends I can imagine saying that. Eh, I’m comfortable with my image. I know the stereotypes he’s mocking (including what he’s presenting himself to be) and I don’t think they exist so much except in Hollywood and high school, do they?
No one should ever feel like “a sell out” for taking care of themself. He’ll get over it when he notices how much better he feels.
I saw a pic of the svelter Seth and almost didn’t recognize him. It almost didn’t seem like the Seth I know and like (just from a fan point of view). I don’t think he’s a sellout but it’s refreshing to hear an actor be open like this.
Maybe Seth is afraid that he might fail at weight loss or not be able to maintain it after the movie. This way, it does not seem so bad if he went back to his old size. Just a thought.
seth rogen turned super hot after he lost weight. before, he just looked like some fat bum.
To Crystal above,
How can you say something like that? Seth Rogen has always been sexy, even since his days on freaks and Geeks. You know, its people like you who create situations like this in the first place. You are probably saying that because you are secretly jealous of Rogen’s fame and fortune despite being normal sized, and you are lashing out now that he will probably come to be in the spotlight more now that he has changed. Hollywood is so stupid.
