Sex and The City Game

New Media Maze have built a game to help promote the Sex and the City film. You get the chance to explore Carrie Bradshaw’s laptop looking at emails, pictures and notes. You get asked 4 questions via Chat that you can only find the answer from looking through the content; get them right and and you get entered in a draw to win a movie poster (so not that big a prize then)

The concept is fun; exploring the additional content lets a fan see more behind the scenes stuff; getting the questions right also unlocks a lot more stories and videos to watch. It all seems to be in character (as far as I can tell, only ever have briefly watched the show in passing). It’s a brilliant extension to the film. I also like how they’ve taken the commercial partnerships into the content, with Vogue and Mercedes Benz featuring prominently.

A couple of annoying little things about it which affected me, but probably few others. First of all it does not work in FF3 (a lot of sites are failing this, which means when it gets released there’s going to be some problems). But a larger one would be that the language is ENGLISH English – not US English. There’s no way a bunch of New York women would use COLOUR in emails instead of COLOR. That’s something that should have been caught early on!

Looking at the content, it also adds some context to some pictures I took in November, where they were shooting a Fashion Week scene. I had no idea they were shooting the SATC film.
