“My father would have haunted him”, said Polly Grigsby, wife of Shaw and daughter of the late Air Force Major Ernest “Ernie” Elwood Fivecoat Jr as reported by BASS. “Shaw was not allowed to come home”. Major Fivecoat died May 31 at the age of 77.

Grigsby who started the day in 3rd place had every intention of being at the service. “If you think the tournament had anything to do with me not being at the service than you are crazy”, said Shaw. “We lost a great one. He was a person who made the world a better place”, Shaw said of his father-in-law.

With a lot already weighing on Shaw and family, hopefully he can pull off a great finish at the Southern Challenge.

Currently Shaw sits 42nd in the AOY standings going into this weekend and just outside of the cut for a seat to the 2009 Bassmasters Classic.
