She Lives!

Yeah, I know. I know. I can just hear the medical doctors clucking saying “she should know a flu shot can’t make her sick.” Yeah, right.
Well maybe. My medical doctor talked me into a flu shot sometime mid-Wednesday afternoon, along with a tetanus shot and some blood drawing for standard tests. I was pleased for several reasons, mostly because her scale matched mine in saying I’d lost about four pounds. I mean how often does that happen?
Thursday mid-day I noticed my neck and shoulders were feeling stiff and sore – but I’d been grinding at the computer more than usual and did some gentle stretches that seemed to help.
Sometime after midnight I woke up sweating like a proverbial… well sick human being. That fever continued though Friday and into Saturday when it broke sometime late in the day. But the damn thing wasn’t finished with me yet. Next was a raw throat and itchy nose – and I’m still getting some cold symptoms. I feel like I’ve lost the better part of a week – probably because I’ve lost the better part of a week.
I feel better, not great yet, but good enough to be bored which I take as a positive sign.

I have never had a flu shot, but my husband keeps trying to talk me into it. I just don’t know…I hope you feel better! I know what it is like to lose a good part of a work week because of something silly.

Unfortunately, it’s fairly common for people to have bad reactions to flu shots. My doctor swears it’s not really the flu, but probably a reaction to something else in the shot.
Either way, it still stinks (I should know!). Hope you’re feeling better.
P.S. My doctor hasn’t been able to talk me into another flu shot in the last 6 years.
There are just too many people I know who have gotten sick from the flu shot for me to believe it’s not possible. It is.

I had my flu shot last week and I have been sick since Saturday ~ i’ve missed a week! Everyone telling me you can’t get sick from flu shot. I felt like I had been hit by a truck then it backed up and ran over me again and again and again! It’s good to know that I wasn’t going crazy. Hope you are better soon!!!

I’m glad that you’re feeling better, Anne. Shots aren’t fun especially when you have a bad reaction to something that is supposed to protect you.
My wife and I had our flu shots last month and are okay. Still, there have been enough other viruses being spread around to make avoiding germs an impossible task.
