Shocking nobody, Lady Vols picked to win SEC

Across the nation, groups of media members and sports info directors are voting on their respective pre-season polls. As the headline suggests, the defending NCAA Champion Lady Vols received all but two first-place votes by the SEC media members. LSU finished a distant second.

Other news from GoVolsXtra.com says junior sensation (and likely future Los Angeles Spark) Candace Parker received relatively good news on her injured shoulder, which she injured in practice a few days ago. Parker was also named to the First Team All-SEC and named Conference Player of the Year.

LSU’s Sylvia Fowles was the only other unanimous selection to the All-SEC team.

One more note: The women will begin playing a 16-game conference schedule in 2009 and will be broken up into two 6-team divisions.
