Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash Back for the Holidays

Pepsi-Cola’s (NYSE: PEP) Sierra Mist brand is re-introducing its holiday flavor for the second year in a row. Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash and Sierra Mist Free Cranberry Splash will be available for a limited time during the 2007 holiday season in 20-ounce and 2-liter bottles as well as 12-packs and 12-ounce cans.
Rather than just re-designing the packaging for its existing products like its primary competitor, Coca-Cola (NYSE: KO), Pepsi goes a step further by extending its product line with a special holiday flavor. In fact, the packaging for Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash and Sierra Mist Free Cranberry Splash doesn’t even have a holiday theme. It’s a great concept that must be working since the company is making Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash available again this year.
What do you think of the various holiday packaging and holiday brand extensions launched by consumer products companies? Are there any you particularly like or dislike?
I would also buy this drink all year if you would make it available. I and my 4 daughters absolutely love it…please consider selling it ALL the time!!!!
Wow, I had no idea this had such a cult following — like those green St. Patrick’s Day shakes at McDonald’s.
Pepsi does seem to be missing the boat on this product. Looks like it could be a year-round moneymaker.
I’m also surprised that their social marketing appears to be nonexistent and no one from Pepsi has shown up to comment on this post yet. Looks like they’re missing marketing opportunities in the social media marketing area as well.
If you haven’t had the Cranberry Splash Sierra Mist, you have missed a treat! I am joining with the prior voices and questioning Pepsi as to why they don’t make it a year-round product!!! It is delicious. Another close one is 7-Up Pomegranite, which is very tasty too, but not as good as the Cranberry Splash. Both are “for a limited time only.
Why is sierra mist-free(cranberry splash) not a year around beverage? This is a missed marketing opportunity!

I LOVE Cranberry splash! I am so disappointed to read it’s only offered through the holidays :(. It should be a year round drink and the extra lemon should be as well!!! And bring the extra lemon back in a can!!! My family loves the “bite” and “sweet” taste of Sierra Mist.
Why would you only have cranberry sierra mist at holidays when it is so good? It is a refreshing taste and needs to be on the store shelves year round. I was very disappointed to hear it was seasonal. That is very frustrating for the consumer to really like something then take it away. Obviously it will sell and your company makes a profit, why not have it on a permanent basis before another company duplicates this combination?
The diet cranberry splash is the best diet pepsi product made in a long time. I need more of it. Please make it available all year.

This is absolute torture. I love Cranberry Sierra Mist Free. I urge Pepsi to sell it year-round. They would definitely get the sales. There’s a lady that called me tonight asking where to find it. I love the stuff. So does she. We like it even better than Cherry Limeades!
Why couldn’t I find this product any where during the holidays? I’m sure I would like it. There are so few calorie free flavored drinks out there for the consumer who doesn’t want ‘coke/pepsi’ flavor. The advertisements had me sold but I couldn’t find the product. Also, there isn’t anywhere on their website to make inquiries about the availability of Cranberry Splash.

I’ve been asking the same question, Janie. Where are the people from Pepsi to chime in on this post? I’m so surprised that they don’t have anyone working on social media marketing to find these types of conversations and respond to them!
I also love Sierra Mist Free Cranberry Splash. It was sold out every where I went. Then I couldn’t believe it! I went into our local liquor store and there it was in the 2 liter bottles. I bought 4. They were only 99 cents. I’ll maybe have to stop tomorrow for more. But please, this would be a great year round pop. Great on those hot summer days. Is there any where a person could start a poll or something making Pepsi aware of this???

Unfortunately, I searched their website but could not find contact information for Corporate Communications or Media Relations. Therefore, I sent a message to through their Consumer Relations department via their online form. I’ll keep everyone posted on the outcome.

Traci, I’m still hoping to get some more information from Pepsi. I’ll definitely post if/when I find anything out. At least a definitive answer about Pepsi’s future plans for the product would help answer everyone’s questions. Hopefully, Pepsi will be forthcoming with additional information.
My husband and I had the opportunity to try this fantastic Sierra Mix Cranberry Splash when in NJ at my daughters this Christmas. We reside in
Chesapeake, VA and would love to see that drink reach our Food Lion stores and the Military Commissary and or the Military Exchange.
We both feel this is not just a Holiday driink it should be on all shelves year round — you have a great thing going so why not put it out year round for your customers.

My husband thought I was out of my mind going to so many different places looking for Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash. I love pop and probably drink way more than I need to. Sierra Mist Cranberry, being caffeine free and sugar free, let’s me think I’m misbehaving, when i am actually not. My children love it too, and I can see that it would be wonderful to give them during the summer months as well. I went as far as to drive to another state to get what they had left, but would love to get it right down the street year round. PLEASE, bring it back year round!
My son reported finding diet Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash in an Atlanta, GA Target last week. Unfortunately I live in Houston TX. I would think that Target had limited shelf space and not stock it. Retailing is hard to figure out.

I live in Tulsa, OK and you can find the REGULAR cran mist here, but not the diet!
The regular is far to sweet for me and makes you gain weight!
One more important note: Your local bottler controls whether or not a certain brand will be on the shelves.
Corportate headquarters decides if it will give the local bottlers the license to produce the drink.
You have to let your local bottler know that you want it!
I love this diet soda, I am a diabetic and don’t like diet sodas but the cranberry seirra mist is the bomb. PLEASE make it a year round thing. When I asked for it at my local Kroger store in Dec. they looked at me like I had 3 heads, and had no idea what I was talking about.
If I need to email or write a letter to someone high up in the company let me know I will and will also have everyone I know do the same.
I drive fifty miles oneway to buy seirra Mist Cranberry why can we not buy this product closer to home year round when thier is a product so refreshing locating it should not be a problem. PLEASE KEEP IT YEAR ROUND AND DISTRIBUTE SEIRRA MIST CRANBERRY EVERY WHERE SO PEOPLE CAN ENJOY IT!

Suggestion: drop the Pepsi Jazz products (not so tasty) and bring on the regular and diet Cranberry Sierra Mist all year long. Consumers (including myself) love it!!!
