SimCity DS: Fight Fires With Your Microphone

One of the most well-loved and oft-released franchises is set to make its debut on the Nintendo DS sometime this summer. SimCity DS, the latest in an endless chain of SimCity games from Will Wright’s Maxis development studio.

Rather than just repackaging a classic, Maxis has been working on new features that take advantage of the DS’s unique interactive capabilities. Players will now be more involved in the management of their city than simply pointing and clicking. Fire in the north end residential district? Put it out with the nearby, perfectly situated fire station by blowing into the DS microphone. Need to sign off on some mayoral commitments? Autograph your edicts using the DS stylus. In addition to gimmicky fun, gamers will also be able to take advantage of the DS’s WiFi functionality to exchange information between players.
