According to Sid in an article entitled “6 Steps to Better Business Solutions“, one of the first things that he suggested that  you do is “List Your Problems“. Basically he suggest that you create a quick to-do list of things that you need to do so that you can create a “Better Business Solutions” that are very beneficial to your business.

Another point that he suggests that a business owners do is that you “Pick One” of the problems from the to-do list that you need to solve. To help you determine which one to pick, Sid suggest that you apply the following questions to your decision:

  • Is killing your business?
  • Is driving you nuts?
  • Looks like an easy place to start?
  • Can you fix yourself, with little or no help?
  • Will bring in, or save, the most money?

Once you pick your problem then you should move on to “Fix the right problem” which is when he suggest that you go through another series of questions to identify the right way to fix the problem. In answering the second set of questions, you are laying the foundation for your solution to the problem.

In laying the foundation for your solution, Sid also shared that it is important to “Diagnose before solving” which is the next step. A key point that he ask is “But are you sure you know the solution?” which means that you need to make sure you look at the problem an solution for different angle to make sure that both are the best for your situation.

In developing your solution, you may find that you should enlist the help of other which ties in with the next point that Sid shares, “Get the expertise you need“. After you enlist help and come of with a solution then the final thing let to do according to Sid is to, “Make the solution stick“. Which means that you need to make sure that you have develop a solution that will encourage you to implement it regarding of your environment, situation or attitude.

I have shared how I apply Sid’s “Better Business Solution” to one of my business problems below:

Problem/Example: I write for Bizzia.com and a couple of my personal blogs. After creating my quick to-do list regarding content management, I realized that I had a problem of organizing writing efforts.

The Solution that I developed was to keep a calendar for all of the blog posts that I write. I do this because it helps me organize the blog content that I write. Each website has it’s on tracking list so that I will know what topics I have covered and how far in advance I have content post-dated to launch on my blog. In doing this, I have found that it keep me on top of all of my writing assignments.

Please feel free to share how some unique ways that you have found to solve a problem within your business.
